My eyes were opened to the urgent need to restore America's true history one day when I heard some Christian youth discuss how they hated America.  The reason they had such strong feelings toward our nation is because have not been taught the truthful accounts of American exceptionalism.  The sad fact is that, if they only understood America's true history, they would be proud of their heritage.  It would cause them to be broken in prayer to see that heritage restored in our day.

I also was ignorant of America's true heritage for many years after becoming a Christian because it was no longer taught when I was in school.  What led to my discovery of America's heritage was a passion for God's kingdom and a love for God's word.  Through studying Scripture I began to get a vision of God's heart for people.  I began to see how it included social architecture at every level.

One of the motivations for my discovery came because I was grieved over the shipwreck sin causes in people's lives.  Much ministry today is geared to healing lives that have been broken by sin.  I praise Jesus that He does heal the broken hearted and He does bring light to lives that have been bound in darkness, yet I began to wonder if God had a solution to prevent the shipwreck before it happens.  After seeing the impact on people's lives of things like child abuse, rape, domestic violence and a host of other evils, I wondered if it was possible to save people before they became victims of sin.  For example, I wanted to know if there was a way to save the victim of rape before they were ever raped or to heal a shattered family before it was broken through adultery.  I discovered that Scripture contains a social architecture which is designed to do that very thing.

I began to see in Scripture the vision through passages like:

"Now it shall come to pass in the latter days that the mountain of the LORD's house shall be established on the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and peoples shall flow to it. Many nations shall come and say, "Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, To the house of the God of Jacob; He will teach us His ways, And we shall walk in His paths." For out of Zion the law shall go forth, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem." (Micah 4:1-2, NKJV)

Understanding Biblical imagery, we find that such passages present us with a vision to disciple nations.  The latter days referred to are the times we are now living in.  They began when Jesus died and rose again.  This is why Peter quoted Scripture concerning God would pour out the Holy Spirit in "latter days".  We need to see that the time frame passages like this are referring is today.

The substance of this prophesy can be discovered from the fact that in prophetic language, mountains represent governments and kingdoms.  This means that the kingdom of God will be established over nations, and people of those nations will flow into it.  People will learn God's ways and walk in them.  Just like the heavenly kingdom of Jesus which seeks first to transform people through the gospel, yet also judges all men according to the law, both of ministries, the law and gospel, are meant to be active in society in order to fulfill such Scriptures.

There are multitudes of Scriptures like this which present a vision for bringing liberty and healing to nations, but it is often a laborious task to help people to see such a vision.  I wondered if there was any way to create a bridge to help people understand.  This is when I discovered America's true history.  In America's true history I discovered a model for discipling nations as described in the Bible.  I will not say that everything was perfect in early America, but they were on the right track.  The vision and foundation for society laid by America's founding fathers was a great example Biblical social architecture being applied by a generation. Through studying America's true history, we discover one of the easiest ways for people to get a clear and practical vision for what God wants to birth in nations today.

Unfortunately, America has turned away from the heritage which made her exceptional.  With this in mind, the following passages are made relevant to our generation:

""Remember the Law of Moses, My servant, which I commanded him in Horeb for all Israel, with the statutes and judgments. Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD. And he will turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers, lest I come and strike the earth with a curse." (Malachi 4:4-6, NKJV)

The context of the passage in Malachi is a promise of healing nations and victory over evil in the Earth.  This is something that we should all long for.  Then Malachi describes the key to such change, the key is in remembering the Law of Moses.  How this is practically done is when Biblical social architecture is applied to society through the law, and men's hearts are changed to walk according the law of love revealed in the law through the gospel.  Just like Elijah called Israel back to her foundations, so we need people who will turn our generation back to the inheritance of America's father's foundation.
